Leg of lamb with baked potatoes
For 6 persons:
- 1 leg of lamb about 1.8 kg (with bone or boneless)
- 8 large potatoes
- A few cloves of garlic
- A few sprigs of thyme
- 100g of thin slices of butter
- salt and pepper
Preheat oven to gas mark 7 (210 °C).
Peel, wash, dry and slice the potatoes with the help of a grater. Place in equal layers at the bottom of the dish and sprinkle with the thin slices of butter. Add the leg of lamb and place in the oven.
After 15 min, when the leg begins to brown, turn it over.
Cook for 15 mins more and turn it over again.
Lower heat to gas mark 6 (180 °C) and leave to cook for 40 more minutes. Add the cloves of garlic (with the peel) during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
Turn off and leave in oven for 10 minutes.
The lamb leg will be tender and the potatoes imbued with a delicious lamb taste.
